Full Job Description

Valley Services is a family owned residential and construction solutions provider, conveniently located in the heart of downtown San Jose. It consists of two divisions: the transfer station and rentals. As a Dispatcher/Router, you will be a key member in ensuring the company’s services and delivery goals are achieved in a timely and presentable manner. The ideal candidate will remain calm during stressful situations and possess excellent communication skills. We are looking for a hardworking Dispatcher to join our rentals division.


Compensation: $23.00 - $26.00

Responsibilities include but not limited to: 

  • Create efficient routes for drivers.
  • Receive and answer emergency and non-emergency calls.
  • Receive and dispatch orders.
  • Communicate with drivers daily regarding schedules, route changes, road conditions, accidents, and emergencies.
  • Partner with the operations manager to develop weekly and event schedules for drivers.
  • Manage dynamic team shift schedules and plan coverage weeks in advance to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Address problems and make requests by communicating with necessary parties or providing solutions.
  • Utilize necessary equipment, including computer software, radio, and phone, to dispatch personnel, vehicles, or field units to appropriate locations.
  • Work with the customer service department to schedule deliveries and services.
  • Review driver route books on a daily basis.
  • Maintain and keep inventories updated.
  • Enforce safety standards.
  • Pitch in and help with other activities as needed.
  • Handle special projects assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Ability to multitask.
  • Successful work experience as a dispatcher or in a relevant position.
  • Willingness and ability to take appropriate action with little supervision.
  • Solid working knowledge of procedures and guidelines to maintain compliance.
  • Fluent in English (oral and written); other languages are a plus.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and during emergency conditions.
  • Positive attitude and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships with subordinate employees.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Salesforce
  • Billingual
