Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Director, Systems Test Engineering to join our growing team. Reporting to the VP of Manufacturing, the Director of Systems Test Engineering will lead Test Engineers, processes and procedures, electrical ground support equipment, and facility development to support module and vehicle production. This must be a transformational leader, moving Terran Orbital into the future of streamlined efficiency and digital execution. The Director will identify organizational staffing and capital requirements, develop technical/cost proposals, drive affordability, standardize procedures and processes, and work closely with other functional leadership. The Director's organization supports Manufacturing and Vehicle Systems Integration and Testing operations. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in influencing the direction of Digital Transformation efforts in a production environment or production engineering discriminators, including identifying and championing organizational change to achieve a more competitive advantage for the business.

 Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage teams that design, build, and deploy RF, GPS, electrical, power, GNC, communications, command, and data handling subsystems equipment that is forward and backward-compatible with current and future test systems.
  • Direct and manage teams that write, develop, debug, and provide floor support for current and next-generation power and test systems software.
  • Manage consistency across the discipline, ensuring reuse, standard tools, and training/skill development through all levels of the organization.
  • Develop metrics and performance calculations using production schedule metrics and inputs
  • Ability to identify gaps, forecast potential issues to module delivery plans and schedules, and the ability to apply root cause analysis skills
  • Must be capable of solid partnership to ensure lockstep coordination with adjacent functions
  • Coordinate and execute site-level initiatives with other members of the Operations Senior Leadership Team

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math - or related technical discipline
  • 15 years of leadership experience leading programs, projects, and personnel
  • 15 years of Production/Systems related experience with high proficiency in technical problem solving to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Demonstrate production and manufacturing leadership experience, preferably with experience in Space Flight hardware, R&D or Advanced Systems, technology, and other space/satellite systems
  • Proven competence in managing day-to-day operations of a multi-team site, including task organization, staff development, cost, and schedule management
  • Demonstrated abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching
  • Strong project management, budget management, and team leadership skills
  • Experience in process definition, development, deployment, and improvement
  • Proven exceptional strategic communication skills, both written, verbal, and presentation, to effectively communicate business cases to all levels of peers, suppliers, as well as program and executive management, with an ability to persuade and motivate action

 

   Additional Differentiators

  • Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, or related technical discipline
  • Proficiency in project scheduling software, such as MS Project
  • Active or current Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI and TS level access.
  • Hands-on technical experience with Spacecraft or satellite-related systems
  • Experience transitioning products from development to production
  • Experience with hardware and manufacturing organizations
  • Adept with Agile methodology, concepts, and implantation
  • Knowledge of Assembly processes, integration processes, systems engineering practices, Test, quality, and configuration management systems

Salary Range $150,000-$220,000

Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Physical Demands

An employee must meet the physical demands described to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. In performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to sit or stand for long durations of time, in addition to bending, reaching, and walking. This would require the ability to lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. This position is generally sedentary, with substantial computer usage.

Work Environment

The job operates in a professional office environment but in a manufacturing company. This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and scanners.
