Director of Motion Planning Research

Responsibilities

• Develop safety-critical software for self-driving cars by leading, managing, and expanding a team focused on the motion planning and controls 
• Assume responsibility for the overall planning, execution, and success of autonomous driving related projects 
• Guide and mentor the team to be productive in contribution and content in role development 
• Actively code and develop prototypes to test novel algorithms and ideas (Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.).
• Foster a culture of experimentation and innovation, while promoting technical excellence and accountability within the team.
• Ensure end-to-end ML pipelines are automated, from data ingestion and pre-processing to model training, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Stay on top of the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in machine learning and artificial intelligence.
• Present the progress to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• 7-10 years of experience building test-driven, fault-tolerant systems
• Proven record of delivering a DL based system
• MS or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• Extensive experience designing and building modern planning systems
• Passionate about writing amazing, robust, safety-critical, efficient C++ and Python
