Job Description
The primary purpose of this job position is to work as a Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) under supervision of a Registered Dietitian (RD) to support the Dietary department and facility. DTR is trained in food and nutrition and has met the educational, experiential and examination standards of the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). A Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) works under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian (RD), assisting the department in technical monitoring of the food service programs to ensure that nutritional standards of quality and diet guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides nutritional education and instruction on identified diet plans to individual patients, patients in group settings, and patient families based upon physician order and/or nutritional education needs.
- Prioritizes tasks and uses effective time management skills to maintain productivity standards. Assists the Registered Dietitian in providing an efficient and cost effective nutrition care program while meeting service excellence standards.
- Performs timely nutrition assessments and may provide screening using designated criteria to identify patients at nutritional risk and appropriately determines the nutritional status of patients by completing assessments based on nutrition practice guidelines.
- Provides timely follow up and monitoring of patients identified for re-screening and re-assessment and refers patients to the Registered Dietitian; documents pertinent information in the medical records and patient care plan while meeting requirements of regulatory agencies (i.e. Joint Commission, CMS, State and other regulatory agencies).
- Assists with continuous quality improvement activities and ongoing problem solving and conducts meal rounds as indicated.
- Provide direction to the department staff in the activities necessary to provide quality nutrition patient care.
Requirements
- Deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Have a working knowledge of the laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to skilled nursing facilities.
- Demonstrate leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel
- Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Hold a Certification/License in good standing within the state of practice
- Knowledge of state survey process and compliance with nutrition care regulations
Full-Time
Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:30pm
May include some weekends
Compensation is based on experience
