Dental Coordinator
Salary Range: $75,518 to $90,621
GGRC is currently hiring for Dental Coordinator. As a Dental Coordinator you will provide dental related consultation regarding coordination of services and education pertaining to dental care assessment and planning. All GGRC dental program activities functioning will be the primary responsibility of this role in accordance with regional center policies and California State laws.
This role offers a hybrid schedule offering the opportunity to work out of any of our three offices in San Mateo, San Francisco and San Rafael, CA. This role will also require you to travel within the Counties of San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin. Occasional statewide travel to sites throughout California. Access to reliable transportation permitting travel to and between many different locations throughout the day to perform the outlined responsibilities of the position
What You'll Do:
Organization Support
- Conduct and complete dental screenings and initiate patient referrals.
- Assist in coordinating hospital dentistry procedures.
- Consult with regional center personnel.
- Interact with community dental professionals and function as liaison with the faculty of the University of the Pacific Dental School and other dental training programs.
- Participate in providing training to residential service providers and community programs regarding preventive dentistry for persons with developmental disabilities.
- Train regional center staff in how to refer individuals with developmental disabilities for dental hygiene assessment, dental screening, outpatient or hospital-based dental treatment and follow-up.
- Conduct dental desensitization and oral hygiene familiarization trainings for regional center staff.
- Follow protocols as outlined in “Individual Oral Health Assessment and Support Protocol” from Pacific Center for Special Care.
- Attending Dental Coordinator training and participating in Dental Coordinator conference calls with program manager at Pacific Center for Special Care as available.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of hospital dentistry services.
- Function as liaison among hospital, regional center individual served, residential care providers, and dental providers. Train care providers to contact social workers for individual served referral to hygienist for assessment and care plan, rather than referring directly to dentists for hospital treatment. Maintain a system of prevention, oral hygiene training and desensitization training. Refer to hospital dentistry or outpatient treatment based on reports from dental hygienist or dentist. After dental procedure, follow-up with oral hygiene training is recommended to maintain the restorative procedures.
- Maintain and follow-up on list of individuals served by GGRC and their dental status.
- Assist in activities to recruit, support, and retain dentists who are willing to provide services to regional center consumers at Denti-Cal rates.
- Participate in special projects, and assist with additional duties or tasks, as assigned.
- Maintain all client information as confidential in compliance with the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and the California Lanterman Act
- The confidentiality of the individuals served by the regional center will be maintained in accordance with regional policies and California State Laws
Requirements
Education and Experience
- College education or equivalent in dental field.
- Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) required, with Registered Hygienist in Alternative Practice (RDHAP) preferred.
- 2-3 years relevant work experience preferably in the dental healthcare field.
