Data Systems Administrator
This Data Systems Administrator would focus on working with customers on data migration, decommissioning legacy storage systems, and performing OS upgrades to get our storage systems on non-out-of-date Operating Systems. The Data Systems Administrator will also help with daily maintenance tasks of the storage systems as well as make improvements to processes and procedures by updating documentation, enhancing automation, monitoring and reporting. The position will also build tools to facilitate self-service and automation.
Responsibilities
- Work with customers to migrate from legacy NFS/Samba storage to new systems
- Work to retire old storage systems that are long past their useful life
- Upgrade storage systems OS to Ubuntu 22.04
- Work with DC ops to replace failed drives in storage systems
- Improve monitoring dashboards and alerting systems
- Build scripts and tools and help improve automation of storage systems
- Improve documentation and procedures of storage systems
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Good handle on Linux OS administration with focus on storage and networking
- Good written and verbal communication skills to facilitate positive relationships with customers over long periods of time
- Experience configuring and maintaining file systems, including NFS, Samba and local file systems
- Experience working with IPMI and ILOM
- Understanding of Linux permissions (standard POSIX and NFSv4)
- Detail-oriented and ability to track multiple projects over a long period of time
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with Ubuntu/Debian Linux
- Experience with VMware
- Cluster or Software Defined Storage (SDS) experience (Quobyte, Ceph, Lustre, Gluster, etc)
- Experience with file storage appliances (TrueNAS, NetApp, DataDomain, Synology, QNAP, etc)
- Experience with ZFS
- Experience with automation software (Saltstack, Ansible, Puppet, etc)
- Experience with scripting or programming languages (Python, BASH, Go, Rust, C, C++, etc)
- Experience with Project management methodologies
