A partner organization is seeking a County Health Officer (CHO) to serve as the chief public health strategist in Los Angeles, CA. This role involves developing and implementing health policies, overseeing public health preparedness efforts, and ensuring community health initiatives are effectively addressing the needs of all residents. The CHO will collaborate with local tribal health organizations, community clinics, and other partners to create a cohesive healthcare system. Key responsibilities include medical oversight of programs on communicable disease control, environmental health, and maternal and child health, and providing expert advice on public health issues. The ideal candidate will be a licensed physician with strong scientific and epidemiological expertise and a practical approach to rural community health.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement health policies and programs to address community needs.
- Oversee public health preparedness and ensure readiness for health emergencies.
- Provide medical oversight for programs related to communicable disease control, environmental health, and maternal and child health.
- Advise policymakers on public health issues, including environmental and community design considerations.
- Collaborate with local tribal health organizations, community clinics, and other partners to enhance healthcare delivery.
- Foster a cohesive, collaborative healthcare system that serves a diverse population.
- Lead and manage a team, including professionals from various fields and nursing staff, to address community health challenges.
- Champion public health initiatives to improve the well-being of all residents.
Requirements
- Licensed physician in California.
- Strong scientific and epidemiological knowledge.
