Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Finance and Revenue Officer, you as a Controller are responsible for the overall accounting process of the company, inclusive of financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, and budget preparations. You will partner closely with department heads and stakeholders across the organization to ensure financial operations and needs are handled in an efficient and effective manner.
Your Responsibilities
- Act as a Finance & Accounting lead providing centralized support for the Impact Theory businesses, working closely with CRO, CFO, HR, and broader executive leadership team
- Plan and perform monthly and quarterly close activities, including balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses, and analytical reviews, producing internal management reporting and external audit support
- Partner with business units to support internal financial systems process improvements and automation and to advise on accounting implications
- Assess the effectiveness of internal controls, and design new processes and controls for emerging and growing business activities
- Manage Payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable activities
- Work closely with Human Resources on payroll-related matters, as well as for onboarding and departing employees and contractors
- Manage global operating expenses and related prepaid and accruals processes
- Work cross-functionally with business units such as Human Resources and Operations to drive important initiatives and improvements
- Support quarterly reviews and annual audits performed by external auditors
- Support special projects and process improvement programs
- Drive change in the organization through participation in special projects and ad hoc analyses
Requirements
- 5+ years' experience in Accounting roles, with a mix of public accounting and private company experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
- Effective at writing and presenting analyses to stakeholders
- Advanced Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets skills
- Familiarity with Payroll and HRIS software such as Quickbooks, as well as federal/state laws/regulations on payroll practices
- Highly organized and able to multitask and manage multiple projects and competing priorities without sacrificing results or quality of work
- Must be flexible, motivated, and highly collaborative, this role will need a self-starter who can roll up their sleeves and get things done
- Must be able to work onsite, full-time at our West Hollywood, California office Monday through Friday
- The compensation range for this position is $165,000 to $180,000 annually, depending on experience
