Tangelo is dedicated to improving healthy food access and promoting healthier lifestyles by making nutritious, affordable, and delicious food options accessible through a benefits platform for low-income families and those with chronic conditions. Our platform provides subsidized medically tailored meals and healthy grocery delivery at reduced costs, or even free, through partnerships with insurance companies, governments, universities, non-profits, and employers.
We are looking for Contract Community Engagement Representatives that will engage with community members at various enrollment events in San Luis Obispo to help qualify and enroll them into health benefits offered through their Medi-Cal health plan. This role will spend the majority of their time in the field and at events in their designated area.
Role Scope
- Engage in friendly and direct personal interactions to increase community awareness of available benefits
- Assist community members in using the enrollment tool to determine their eligibility and explore the various benefits available to them and their families in their community
- Handle all questions and concerns from community members with professionalism, courtesy, and empathy, providing exceptional support
- Adhere to all company confidentiality guidelines
- Participate in various events to understand the needs and concerns of community members
- Evaluate community members' eligibility for different social programs offered
- Contribute to team meetings and strategic planning efforts
- Ability to stand or be outdoors for extended periods during events such as resource fairs
- Perform light physical tasks (lifting up to 10 lbs)
- Travel locally (within a 50-mile radius) at least 80% of the time
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent is required
- Bilingual English/Spanish required
- Must reside in San Luis Obispo county
- Previous experience working in community development, social services, or a related field preferred
- Willingness to learn about community outreach and our efforts in making a difference
- Ability to easily build rapport with communities by utilizing active listening and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with local resources and services for community members
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
