Full Job Description

A partner company is seeking a Coach Operator/Bus Driver in San Bernardino, CA. This position offers $21.00 an hour during training (up to 6 weeks) and $22.20 an hour once training is complete. Additionally, there is a sign-on bonus of up to $1,000.

Responsibilities

  • Complete mandatory pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including Air Brake tests.
  • Operate public transit coaches over assigned routes in a safe and timely manner.
  • Secure fares, tickets/passes, and transfers; provide route information to passengers.
  • Assist persons with disabilities with boarding/alighting and proper use of securement systems and ramps.
  • Observe and comply with State and Local traffic laws and ordinances, and Agency rules and policies.
  • Exercise tact and courtesy in dealing with passengers and the general public.
  • Complete accident, incident, and various other reports.
  • Maintain punctual and regular attendance to provide dependable service to the public.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to obtain/retain a California Class B driver's license with endorsements.
  • Stable work history and excellent driving record.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Current (no less than 6 months old) California driver's license.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to the safe operation of public transit vehicles.
  • Ability to maintain a good attendance record and punctuality.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to remain calm under occasionally stressful conditions.
  • Ability to deal courteously and effectively with passengers, fellow employees, and the general public.
  • Ability to follow written instructions and verbal orders.
  • Professional appearance.
  • Willingness to work any specified shift, including day, swing, splits, graveyard, weekends, and holidays.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing under Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regulations.
