Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Operating Room

The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) plays a vital role in the operating room, collaborating with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective surgical procedures. The CST is responsible for preparing the operating room, assisting during surgery, and maintaining a sterile environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring sterility, and creating a safe environment for the patient and surgical team.
• Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and anticipating their needs.
• Maintain accurate counts of sponges, needles, and other surgical items to prevent complications.
• Sterilize and maintain surgical instruments and equipment.
• Handle specimens and prepare them for laboratory analysis.
• Adhere to strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
• Participate in debriefing and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program.
• Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and equipment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
