Attorney - Environmental Law

Direct Counsel seeking an Associate Attorney for one of our client's active defense litigation group with a focus on general litigation and environmental law practice.

• Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of hands-on litigation experience, managing cases from start to finish, including complex motion practice, pleadings, discovery, depositions, client communication, and managing junior associates.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• CA State Bar License.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including oral argument skills.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with environmental law, including bedrock environmental laws like CERCLA.
• Background in geology or hydrogeology.
• Experience in trial, class action, toxic tort, and/or environmental regulatory agency cases.
• Administrative and managerial experience.

• Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage discovery processes, including written discovery, depositions, and document analysis.
• Draft legal documents such as pleadings and complex motions.
• Conduct legal research.
• Appear in court as required.
• Supervise junior associates and follow instructions from supervising partners.
