Reports to: Northern California Housing Services Director

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

Founded in 2004, Brilliant Corners provides innovative housing and housing-related services to those transitioning from or at risk of homelessness or institutionalization. We develop, own, and manage multi-family supportive housing and licensed residential care homes. Additionally, we implement a broad array of scattered-site, one-on-one supportive housing and clinical case management programs through partnerships with developmental services, homeless services, veteran services, and healthcare sectors.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Northern California Housing Services Associate Director will be responsible for overseeing Brilliant Corners’ Housing Services programs in the San Francisco Bay Area, including the Flexible Housing Subsidy Pool, Rising Up, Emergency Housing Voucher, Mainstream Voucher, and the Legacy Flex Pool programs.

Providing substantial support to the Northern California Director, they will closely collaborate with the 2nd Associate Director and service provider partner agencies to implement a consistent “Housing Platform” across the diverse sub-programs mentioned. Managing the Support Teams, which encompass Managers, Supervisors, Programs' Associates, and Housing Coordinators, the Associate Director will role model and coach staff to adopt a client-centered, collaborative approach, showcasing exceptional management skills.

Using a strengths-based approach, the Associate Director will aim to build a cohesive team and foster a culture of excellence. Effectively engaging with high-level stakeholders is crucial, and the Associate Director will also support the creation of regular program performance and financial reporting.

Requirements

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Education and Qualifications:

  • Preferred qualification includes a Bachelor’s degree; however, candidates can substitute equivalent work experience.
  • Training in and strong understanding of Fair Housing principles and laws- Local, State, and Federal.

Relevant Experience:

  • Possesses a minimum of five years of experience in the public policy, social justice, or environmental justice fields.
  • Alternatively, candidates with a background in communications or a related field, showcasing a genuine commitment to social justice and housing as a fundamental human right, are encouraged to apply.

Leadership and Supervision:

  • Demonstrates leadership skills through a progressive increase in responsibilities and managerial roles throughout their career.
  • Proven track record of at least five years in supervisory roles or equivalent leadership positions.

Project Management:

  • Demonstrates proficiency in project management methodologies, including planning, execution, and successful completion of projects within specified timelines.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Communication:

  • Exceptional communication skills and a creative approach to engaging stakeholders and staff.

Strategic Thinking:

  • Ability to refine systems and processes with an eye towards the “big picture.”
  • Experience in developing and implementing new programs.

Organizational Skills:

  • Excellent organizational, project management, and planning skills.
  • Can manage multiple deadlines efficiently and simultaneously.

Team Collaboration:

  • Solid team leader who works well collaboratively on projects and under specified timelines.
  • Inspirational leader adept at motivating teams and maintaining high morale.

Cultural Competence:

  • Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge, and skills to deliver culturally responsive services and work effectively in cross-cultural situations.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar systems and experience in data analysis.
  • Capability in budget management.

Flexibility and Critical Thinking:

  • Flexibility is required regarding scheduling and prioritizing tasks.
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking skills in decision-making and good independent judgment.

Salary range for this position is $90,000- $105,000 annually.
