Full Job Description
We are looking for an Associate Director, Field Medical Operations to plays a critical role in driving the Field Medical Teams core functions and tactics. The position utilizes strong organizational skills, project management abilities and leadership excellence to ensure seamless communication and effective collaboration both within the US Field Medical Affairs Team and across multiple Ascendis departments. He/She will play a key role in driving strategic Medical Affairs initiatives, managing critical projects, and ensuring the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the US Field Medical Affairs team.
Key Responsibilities
· Support US Field Medical Leadership, in the development and execution of Field Medical goals to achieve operational excellence.
· Partner with different functions within US Medical Affairs (field medical team, medical strategy, scientific communications, publications, congress planning, medical information) to enhance the team’s effectiveness in decision making and delivery; facilitating communication and creation, maintenance, and drive of timelines to keep projects on schedule. This includes overall project planning, but also specific deliverables during the course of field medical affairs initiatives.
· Strategically identify US Field Medical needs as priorities change based on current and future product lifecycle positioning.
· Track progress of all US Field Medical Affairs internal projects, from initiation and resourcing to resolution and deliverable generation.
· Manage project plans for specific activities and deliverables within Medical Affairs cross-functionally, and with third party vendors.
· Schedule, organize, and drive team meetings, prepare and distribute agendas, minutes, and maintain action and decision logs.
· Coordinate the development of policies and SOPs for US Field Medical Affairs.
· Track invoicing, contracting, open project spending, and monthly budgeting statues for regular presentation to leadership.
· Draft and negotiate agreements as part of vendor management, including SOWs and MSAs.
· Proactively improve existing operational procedure and advise for larger-scale optimizations as necessary.
· Organize and prepare leadership for meetings with internal and external stakeholders to ensure full scope of updates for ongoing projects.
· Serve as a representation for Ascendis and Medical Affairs to all external parties.
· Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field.
· At least 8 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industry.
· Demonstrated in depth knowledge and experience in planning, management, and oversight of activities and deliverables within Medical Affairs.
· Strong knowledge of and ability to implement Medical Affairs concepts and operational practices.
· Proven experience with successful management and interaction with medical affairs vendors.
· Proven track record of managing multiple projects and/or programs concurrently.
· Ability to effectively represent Medical Affairs project management activities with a broader Project Management team and at the cross-functional team level.
· Ability to design, implement and lead multiple projects, setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring progress towards goals.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, vendor management platforms, and contracting procedures. Microsoft Project is required.
· Advanced familiarity with Medical Affairs functions and regulations.
· Strong collaboration and organizational skills needed.
· Collaborates with a wide range of people to achieve results and have a can-do attitude.
· Ability to work autonomously to organize and prioritize one’s own work schedule.
· Estimated travel up to ~25%.
Estimated compensation: $160-175K/year
