Full Job Description
CALPAK is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Product Developer to join our dynamic Product Development team. This role involves direct engagement with vendors to source and evaluate raw materials and components, support in maintaining development schedules, and ensuring the accuracy of product costs and bills of materials. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in enhancing our product lines and maintaining the efficiency of our product development processes.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Vendor Coordination: Work directly with vendors to source various qualities of raw materials and components, expanding CALPAK’s material options and assisting in the transition to new materials.
- Development Tracking: Assist in maintaining the Work-In-Progress (WIP) records for product development, ensuring major milestone dates are accurately recorded and alerting the Product Development Manager about potential delays or discrepancies.
- Logistics Coordination: Manage all shipments between CALPAK headquarters and vendors, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of materials and products.
- Sample Tracking: Organize all prototypes, final samples, and PP samples and help to confirm comments and call-outs.
- Cost Management: Track material and sample-making (SMS) costs, verifying the accuracy of associated billing and negotiating costs based on total volume across vendors.
- Inventory Management: Help manage and evaluate inventory of spare parts to ensure sufficient stock is available for warranty claims and repairs.
- Archive Building: Assist in managing sample archives as well as developing an accurate and easy to use tracking method for identifying and pulling archive samples.
- Documentation and Compliance: Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for each product and ensure compliance with CALPAK’s quality standards and industry regulations.
- Provide any additional support as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is a plus, but relevant work experience will also be considered.
- 1-3 years of experience in product development, preferably in the consumer goods or fashion industry.
- Working knowledge of materials, costing, and product lifecycle management.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, project management tools, and experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software is a plus.
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop a plus.
- Some travel required for meetings, events, or vendor visits.
