We’re seeking an AR/VR Quality Assurance Engineer (aka The Immersion Inspector) to rigorously test, debug, and validate AR/VR systems, ensuring optimal performance and a premium user experience.
As an AR/VR QA Engineer at our client, you’ll collaborate with developers, designers, and product teams to ensure AR/VR applications function flawlessly across platforms and devices. Your expertise in testing methodologies, debugging tools, and immersive technology will ensure applications meet high-quality standards before they reach the end user.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Execute Comprehensive Test Plans:
- Design test cases for AR/VR applications, covering functionality, usability, performance, and device compatibility. You’ll ensure all features are tested under various scenarios and conditions.
- Conduct Functional and Regression Testing:
- Perform in-depth testing to identify bugs, glitches, and inconsistencies in AR/VR applications. You’ll prioritize issues based on their impact on performance and user experience.
- Perform Device-Specific Compatibility Testing:
- Test applications on various AR/VR devices, including headsets, AR glasses, and mobile devices. You’ll verify compatibility and performance across multiple platforms.
- Collaborate on User Experience Validation:
- Work with UX teams to test user interactions, gestures, and controls, ensuring they feel natural and intuitive. You’ll provide feedback to improve usability and immersion.
- Automate Testing for Efficiency:
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts to streamline repetitive testing tasks. You’ll use automation tools to improve efficiency and consistency in the QA process.
- Document and Track Bugs:
- Use bug-tracking tools like JIRA to document issues, collaborate with developers, and track resolutions. You’ll ensure thorough documentation of bugs, steps to reproduce, and testing outcomes.
- Stay Updated on AR/VR QA Tools and Practices:
- Research new QA methodologies, tools, and techniques specific to AR/VR testing. You’ll bring fresh ideas and continuously improve the QA process.
Requirements
Required Skills:
- Experience with AR/VR Platforms and Hardware: Familiarity with VR headsets (e.g., Oculus, HTC Vive), AR glasses, and mobile AR platforms like ARCore and ARKit.
- Proficiency in Testing Tools and Automation: Experience with testing frameworks like Selenium, Appium, or custom AR/VR testing tools.
- Strong Debugging and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose issues, identify root causes, and suggest fixes for technical problems in AR/VR systems.
- Understanding of User Experience Principles: Knowledge of UX testing for immersive applications, including gestures, spatial interactions, and haptics.
- Programming Skills in Python or C#: Familiarity with scripting languages to develop automated tests and analyze logs.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience in QA testing or immersive technology may be considered.
- Certifications in software testing (e.g., ISTQB, Certified Software Tester) are advantageous.
Experience Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in quality assurance or software testing, with a focus on AR/VR, gaming, or interactive media.
- Experience with testing methodologies for immersive applications, including performance, usability, and compatibility testing.
- Familiarity with real-time engines like Unity or Unreal Engine is a plus.
