Our client, a leading retailer in the industry, is seeking a Purchasing Director to join their team. As the Purchasing Director, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective purchasing strategies to optimize the procurement process and drive cost savings. You will oversee the purchasing team and collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure the availability of high-quality products while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
Remote, based in Ohio.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute purchasing strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
- Oversee the purchasing team, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient operations.
- Manage supplier relationships and negotiate pricing and terms to secure favorable agreements.
- Analyze market trends and conduct research to identify potential suppliers and cost-saving opportunities.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to forecast demand and ensure product availability.
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, addressing any issues or discrepancies.
- Implement and maintain procurement policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Manage budgets and track spending to achieve cost reduction targets.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in purchasing and supply chain management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of purchasing strategies, supply chain management, and market trends.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain supplier relationships.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in procurement software and systems.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
- Experience in the retail industry is preferred.
Benefits
Salary range: $80,000 - $110,000 depending on experience and skills
