Generator Technician

1 Resource Group is currently seeking an experienced Generator Technician for our client in Fort Smith, Arkansas for direct hire needs. This is a full-time position with competitive benefits and a great work environment.

As a Generator Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining generators used in heavy-duty equipment and machinery. You will work closely with the Service Manager to plan and prioritize work schedules, ensuring timely and efficient completion of repair and maintenance tasks. Additionally, you will perform regular inspections, tests, and preventative maintenance to ensure functioning of equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair malfunctions in generators and their components
• Install new assemblies and replace worn or defective parts
• Coordinate with Service Manager to plan and schedule repair work
• Provide tools and arrange for facilities to perform repair work
• Inspect, operate, and test generators to ensure proper functioning
• Complete required paperwork and documentation for each inspection and repair
• Maintain a clean and organized service truck
• Stay updated with technical knowledge through training and reading of technical literature
• Mentor and train new technicians and supervise repair teams when necessary
• Promote a positive company image through professional appearance and conduct

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Experience with diesel and/or gas engines, including servicing and repair
• Knowledge of electrical systems, including reading diagrams and repairing electrical components
• Experience with power generation systems is a plus
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Proficient in using multimeter and other diagnostic tools
• Owns a set of basic tools
• Good computer skills for documentation and communication purposes
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks as required
• Availability for occasional overnight travel and on-call rotation
