JOB OVERVIEW
The Sales Manager will assist the General Manager with all Sales and Marketing related items to move this established hotel to the next level. This individual will be based at the Sedona Real in Sedona, AZ and is responsible for all aspects of direct sales, catering, wholesale, and group sales. This candidate will possess the necessary experience to work closely with the property’s teams to continue to strengthen the brand, grow community awareness, execute the strategic plan and grow revenue.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Implement annual sales strategies for the organization
- Support and execution of marketing plan and budget
- Recommend strategies, tactics to colleagues and senior leadership in a professional manner
- Actively participate in marketing promotions, property tours and customer meetings
- Conduct/attend daily business review meetings, weekly strategic marketing meetings, management meetings and other meetings as required/ requested
- Collaborate in the development of sales policies and procedures and implement accordingly
- Act with the organization in the direct selling efforts and achievement of hotel and company objectives and operational goals
- Assist in the execution of all sales and marketing/business plans to provide direction and specific plans of action
- Ensure cost effectiveness and optimal utilization of resources while managing the financial aspects of sales efforts. Assist In the development, implementation and evaluation of Sales tactics and programs focused on customer and market needs/conditions in order in order to ensure the achievement of group, transient and leisure revenue goals
- Maintain an open-door communication policy for all team members
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure the availability of supplies, tools, information and equipment for employees to assist in meeting Sales Team objectives
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of final group sales and wholesale contracts to ensure proper application of hotel deposit, space allocation, yield and policies
- Prepare and train Coordinator in relation to performance benchmarks and budgets
- Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required
- Maintain relationships with outside caterers.
- Plan & execute events as required.
- All other tasks as assigned including task force at other properties within the portfolio.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
This candidate would possess strong communications skills, be familiar with high quality guest service, able to present themselves and product to prospective clients in a professional manner and must be able to work in a high volume/time sensitive environment.
- College graduate or equivalent industry experience
- Two years experience in sales, preferably at Marriott branded property
- Extensive knowledge of sales skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Time Management skills to complete all work in allotted time
- Ability to multitask
- Strong customer service aptitude
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Understanding of budgetary and fiscal responsibility within the department
- Familiarity with all operational areas of the properties
- Excellent attention to details to meet both internal and external client needs
- Excellent problem resolution skills
- Be an active team player, working with minimal supervision
- Possess sales and upselling skills to increase revenue
- Ability to execute annual business plans in a timely manner
