Job Description

As a Registered Dietetic Technician, you will be essential in ensuring that our patients receive the highest quality of nutritional support. The Dietetic Technician has a role in supporting the nutrition and dietary needs of residents. They will work closely with registered dietitians, healthcare teams, and kitchen staff to ensure that residents receive appropriate, balanced, and tailored meals that align with their health conditions, dietary restrictions, and personal preferences.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Meal Planning and Preparation:
      • Assist in developing and implementing personalized meal plans based on residents' dietary needs and medical conditions (e.g., diabetes, heart disease, malnutrition, CKD, ESRD).
      • Work with weekly menu selections for residents with food allergies, swallowing difficulties, or other special dietary needs.
      • Monitor portion control and food safety standards.
    • Nutritional Documentation:
      • Collaborate with Registered Dietitians to assess the nutritional status of residents.
      • Assist in performing nutritional screenings and evaluations.
      • Monitor residents’ progress and adjust dietary plans as needed.
      • Maintain accurate records of residents’ food preferences, restrictions, and meal intake.
      • Track and report any changes in residents’ health or dietary needs to the healthcare team.
    • Resident Interaction:
      • Communication with residents and their families to understand preferences and address concerns related to meal options and nutritional care.
      • Educate residents on the importance of following their dietary plans for improved health outcomes.
    • Collaboration:
      • Work in coordination with kitchen staff to ensure proper preparation of meals according to prescribed diets.
      • Work with nursing staff to ensure that dietary plans are being implemented effectively.

Requirements

    • Associate degree in dietetics, nutrition, or a related field.
    • Registered Dietetic Technician (DTR) certification is preferred.
    • Experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting is a plus.
    • Knowledge of dietary guidelines, therapeutic diets, and nutrition principles.

  • Skills:
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
    • Ability to work in a team environment.
    • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
