GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
As a member of our team, the Surgery Scheduling Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the scheduling of surgeries for patients with orthopedic conditions. This includes working closely with your surgeon and staff, patients, healthcare providers, attorneys, and other surgery scheduling team members to ensure that surgeries are scheduled in a timely and efficient manner. Attention to detail and ensuring that all necessary preparations are in place is a necessity in this position. The Surgery Scheduling Coordinator will also be responsible for managing patient files and providing support to patients and families throughout the scheduling process.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and other team members to ensure timely and efficient scheduling of surgeries.
- Submitting Good Faith Estimates to healthcare providers and attorneys promptly.
- Manage patient files and track the progress of surgery scheduling.
- Provide support to patients and families, including answering questions, providing information and resources, and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of surgery scheduling and progress.
- Attend weekly Surgery Scheduling meetings to touch base with management and peers.
- Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure that all necessary preparations are in place for surgeries.
- Assist with pre-surgery and post-surgery patient education and support.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
- Bachelor's degree in a healthcare or related field preferred.
- Experience in patient scheduling or a related role, preferably surgery scheduling.
- Experience in a management or supervisory role preferred.
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Working knowledge of federal and state regulations that impact clinic operations, including HIPAA.
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
- Ability to use MS Office programs, including MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and other computer programs.
- The ability to effectively interact with people and develop positive relationships while being tactful, respectful, and direct in communication.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and handle a fast-paced work environment.
