Position Description

PrePass is seeking a talented and motivated Junior Software Developer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a key part in developing and maintaining software applications critical to our transportation operations. You will leverage your .NET skills to design, implement, and test software solutions with a focus on hardware interfacing. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or someone with a few years of experience to gain valuable industry knowledge and grow your software development skills in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. This is a hybrid role based in Phoenix, AZ.

Responsibilities

  • · Software Development: Write code and develop software applications (cloud and/or on-premise), based on requirements, using programming languages, platforms, frameworks, and tools to create functional and efficient applications

  • Hardware Interfacing: Design, develop, and maintain software applications using Microsoft .NET technologies, including .NET Core, .NET 8, and C#, with an emphasis on hardware interfacing
  • Testing and Debugging: Perform rigorous testing to identify and fix any bugs or errors, including unit testing, integration testing, and debugging to ensure the software meets quality standards

  • Maintenance and Updates: Update existing software applications to enhance functionality, fix issues, and incorporate new features, including troubleshooting, patching, and ensuring the software remains up to date

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders to understand hardware specifications and develop software solutions for seamless integration.

  • Documentation: Write clear and concise technical documentation to ensure application maintainability.

  • Agile Development: Work effectively within an Agile development team using Scrum methodologies.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 1-2 years of experience developing software applications using C# and .NET technologies.

  • Familiarity with software development methodologies such as Agile (Scrum) and Test-Driven Development (TDD)

  • Understanding of web application security principles and best practices

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Proficiency in using Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio, Azure DevOps, and Git

  • Knowledge of core computer science concepts

  • Understanding of manual and unit testing

Preferred

  • Experience developing software for the transportation industry

  • Experience with hardware interfacing protocols and communication methods

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure

  • Familiarity CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps)
