High School Academic Interventionist

To assist academic teachers to implement skill based learning experiences for students who need to meet grade level competency.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Participates in daily and long-range lessons and classroom activity planning and instruction in the locations and times designated.

2. Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of skills initially introduced by the teacher.

3. Assists the teacher by implementing special strategies for reinforcing skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interest and abilities.

4. Guides and instructs students in independent study, enrichment work and skills lessons assigned by the teacher.

5. Assists the teacher to assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports to the teacher and student.

6. Alerts the teacher of record to any problems, special needs or special information concerning an individual or group of students.

7. Assist students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.

8. Maintains the same high level of behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of a fully licensed teacher.

9. Participates in professional development as assigned and attends all staff meetings

10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

1. High School Diploma required.

2. Associates (or higher) degree preferred or

3. Completed two years of study or 60 credit hours at an accredited institution preferred or

4. Obtain a passing score on ParaPro

5. Experience with academically at-risk students preferred.
