Position Overview: We are seeking an exceptional Heavy Industrial Chief Estimator to lead our estimating department at our Phoenix office. This senior leadership role is ideal for an experienced professional with 15+ years in heavy industrial estimating, particularly in the water and wastewater treatment sector. The Chief Estimator will be responsible for overseeing all estimation activities, ensuring the accuracy and competitiveness of our bids, and providing mentorship to other estimators. This role is critical in driving our strategic objectives and maintaining our high standards of project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the estimation process for large-scale and complex heavy industrial projects, focusing on water and wastewater treatment facilities.
• Oversee the preparation of comprehensive cost estimates, ensuring precision and alignment with project specifications, drawings, and scope of work.
• Direct self-performance estimation in areas including process piping and equipment, underground utilities, structural concrete, earthwork, and structural/miscellaneous metals.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather and validate cost data, maintaining high standards of accuracy.
• Review and evaluate subcontractor bids and proposals, ensuring they meet project requirements and cost objectives.
• Develop and implement sophisticated cost databases, cost models, and estimation methodologies.
• Identify and mitigate potential risks, opportunities, and uncertainties affecting project costs and schedules.
• Provide strategic oversight in the preparation of bid proposals, including detailed cost breakdowns and justifications.
• Mentor and develop junior estimators and team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
• Stay informed about industry trends, labor rates, material costs, and innovative construction methods to enhance estimation practices and accuracy.
• Collaborate with senior management to align estimation strategies with company goals and project objectives.

Salary: $200,000 - $220,000, depending on experience.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• 15+ years of experience in heavy industrial estimating with a focus on water and wastewater treatment projects.
• Extensive experience in self-performance estimation for process piping and equipment, underground utilities, structural concrete, earthwork, and structural/miscellaneous metals.
• Proven leadership skills with a track record of successfully managing and mentoring a team of estimators.
• Advanced analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in estimating software and tools, with a demonstrated ability to manage complex estimation processes.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively engage with various stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple high-priority tasks in a fast-paced environment.
