Data Center are experiencing tremendous sales growth in key markets within the US. Albireo Energy is looking to expand profitable sales and marketing share in an exciting business environment as part of the newly created Data Center Solutions group. We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Building Automation Bid Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately assessing project requirements, preparing competitive bids, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure successful project acquisition. The Building Automation Bid Estimator must possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a comprehensive understanding of building automation systems.
This role reports to the Vice President of Sales for Data Center Solutions
Preferred Locations: Phoenix, Chicago, New York
Position Title: Building Automation DDC/PLC Data Center Bid Estimator
Responsibilities:
1. Project Assessment: Evaluate project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to determine the scope of work, materials, and labor requirements.
2. Cost Estimation: Utilize cost estimation software and historical data to accurately calculate material, labor, and subcontractor costs for building automation projects.
3. Bid Preparation: Prepare detailed and competitive bids that align with project requirements and budget constraints. Ensure bids are submitted in a timely manner and adhere to company standards.
In depth knowledge or familiarity of Bid Tracer proposal tool is a plus.
4. Vendor and Supplier Coordination: Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for materials and equipment. Maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure timely delivery and cost-effective solutions.
5. Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and opportunities associated with bids, including technical challenges, market conditions, and regulatory requirements. Develop strategies to mitigate risks and enhance competitiveness.
6. Bid Presentation: Work with Key Account managers to put together value proposals to clients and stakeholders, highlighting key features, benefits, and value propositions. Address any questions or concerns raised during the bid review process in conjunction with the key account manager.
7. Contract Negotiation:. Ensure all contractual terms and conditions are clearly defined and highlighted in the exceptions/clarification items.
8. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of bid documents, correspondence, and contract agreements. Generate reports and analysis to track bidding activities, performance metrics, and market trends.
9. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, and key account managers, to develop comprehensive bid proposals and solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
- Proven experience as a Building Automation Bid Estimator or similar role in the construction industry.
- In-depth knowledge of building automation systems, HVAC systems, controls, and related technologies.
- Proficiency in cost estimation software, such as Bid Tracer, Bluebeam, or similar tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in estimating and documentation.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Familiarity with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
