JOB TITLE: Automated Plasma Spray Coating Engineer
SUMMARY:
We are seeking a skilled Automated Plasma Spray Coating Engineer to join our team. Under the direction of the CTO at MSR-FSR’s Chandler Arizona location. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing automated plasma coating processes. This role requires a deep understanding of plasma coating technologies, material science and programming ABB and Fanuc automation systems.
The Coatings Engineer participates in recurring Global Engineering & Cross-functional Team meetings and when needed, assists applicable quality investigations for customer issues to help determine root-cause and recommend corrective actions. Additionally, the Coatings Engineer will collaborate with third-party suppliers and laboratories to fabricate necessary tooling and develop coating process specifications.
The Coatings Engineer will conduct training to production technicians before transitioning the product to regular production operations, ensuring they are proficient in all aspects of executing the coating process. When not tasked with coating or automation projects, they will support Sr. Process Engineering development projects. In accordance with Company’s Policies & Procedures, the Coatings Engineer will uphold the highest safety and quality standards, while maintaining company values and prioritizing customer’s needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:
• Design and develop automated plasma coating processes for various materials and applications.
• Optimize existing plasma coating systems to improve efficiency, quality, and consistency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate plasma coating processes into production.
• Conduct experiments and analyze data to refine coating parameters and achieve desired outcomes with support of internal and external laboratories.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to plasma coating equipment and processes.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Document processes, procedures, and results for continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
• Train and mentor engineers and engineering technicians on plasma coating technologies, programming, and best practices.

• Occasionally utilize Respirators (Full face, half mask, negative pressure cartridge, positive pressure / breathing air, N-95 type only).
• Frequently wear Hand Protection: Gloves (Chemical resistant, leather, cut resistant, antivibration).
• Occasionally wear Body Protection – chemical: Acid protective aprons, coveralls, hoods. High vis vest.
• Occasionally handling parts or moving carts up to three feet for between 1 and 4 hours per day.
• The employee must occasionally lift and /or move more than 25 pounds.

Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Proven experience in plasma coating technologies and automation systems.
• Strong understanding of material properties and surface engineering.
• Proficiency in using CAD software and other engineering tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Good working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
• Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
EDUCATION & EXPEREINCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Candidates with direct experience in Semiconductor equipment plasma coating or Aerospace plasma coating will be given first consideration.
