Job Description: 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and forward-thinking Assistant Controller to join our team. This role involves a range of accounting responsibilities, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, job costing, inventory management, payroll, and preparing month-end financial statements.

We are a well-established, 48-year-old commercial printing company with $20 million in annual revenue. Our specialty lies in producing high-quality catalogs, magazines, brochures, and marketing collateral for various industries. We pride ourselves on our commitment to innovation, technology, and exceptional service. 

The Team: 

You’ll work directly under our CFO and have the support of an assistant. This is a full-time, on-site position—remote work is not available. Reviews are conducted quarterly during the first year and biannually thereafter. Our company culture is fast-paced and lean, where everyone contributes significantly to achieving our goals. We rely heavily on the Microsoft Suite and are committed to streamlining and automating processes wherever possible. We value fresh ideas and innovative approaches to improve our operations. 

Who We’re Looking For: 

We’re looking for an experienced accounting professional who is eager to take ownership of day-to-day responsibilities like AR, AP, and payroll, while also growing into a capable backup for the CFO role.

Requirements

Must-Have Requirements: 

  • Extensive experience in accounting with full-charge bookkeeping expertise 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience 
  • Proven ability to maintain a high level of accuracy when preparing and entering financial data 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines 
  • Outstanding organizational, written, and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook 

Nice-to-Have Skills: 

  • Experience with ERP systems, especially Microsoft Business Central (or similar systems like Navision, Acquisition, or Dynamics NAV) 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Tools, including Power BI, Power Automate, or Power Apps 
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel or database management
