Full Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Intellectual Property to lead our IP department. As the Director, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to protect and manage the company's intellectual property assets, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. This role is based in Anchorage, Alaska.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive IP strategy to protect the company's intellectual property assets.
  • Manage the company's patent portfolio, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Oversee the trademark and copyright portfolio, including conducting clearance searches and filing applications.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to intellectual property.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify and evaluate potential new inventions and technologies for patentability.
  • Assist in the negotiation of IP-related agreements, including license agreements and technology transfer agreements.
  • Monitor and manage IP disputes, including overseeing litigation and settlement negotiations.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and changes in intellectual property laws.
  • Provide guidance and training to company employees on IP-related matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Intellectual Property Law, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in intellectual property law, including patent drafting and prosecution.
  • In-depth knowledge of intellectual property laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Experience in managing IP portfolios and conducting IP due diligence.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
