Senior IT Security Specialist

Systems Integration & Development (SID) is an award-winning IT solutions provider headquartered in Rockville, MD and is seeking an Senior IT Security Specialist. This is a full-time position based onsite in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Monitor computer networks and systems for security issues, investigate security breaches and other cyber security incidents
• Conduct regular scans of systems to identify vulnerabilities and possible security breaches
• Investigate and report security incidents or violations to appropriate teams and management
• Develop and implement security protocols and procedures to prevent unauthorized access to systems and data
• Monitor and maintain security systems and tools, ensuring they are up-to-date and functioning effectively
• Analyze security logs and reports for potential security threats and escalate as necessary
• Provide recommendations for security enhancements and improvements to systems and processes
• Conduct security audits and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of security controls
• Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, vulnerabilities, and technologies
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement security measures and ensure compliance with regulations
• Assist in incident response and recovery efforts following security incidents
• Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience working as an IT Security Analyst or similar role
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field
• Knowledge of network protocols and security measures
• Experience with vulnerability scanning tools, intrusion detection systems, and other security tools
• Understanding of security incidents and response
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, and/or Security+
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and/or GDPR
• Experience with incident response and handling
• Knowledge of cloud security principles and best practices
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
