Responsibilities
- Record daily financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accordance with established accounting principles.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial statements.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate completion of financial reporting.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Identify trends, variances, and potential discrepancies for further investigation.
- Review and process vendor invoices, employee expense reports, and purchase orders.
- Monitor expenses, ensuring accuracy, adherence to policies, and timely payments.
- Act as a liaison with banking partners, managing bank accounts, reconciling statements, and facilitating fund transfers.
- Coordinate with banks to address inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and ensure smooth financial operations.
- Manage accounts payable process, verifying invoices, processing payments, and reconciling vendor accounts.
- Oversee accounts receivable, including invoicing, tracking payments, and contacting customers for timely collections.
- Communicate proactively with customers and vendors regarding billing, payments, and any account-related matters.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Assist in preparing tax returns, including sales tax, income tax, and other relevant filings.
- Provide data and information for tax-related audits and assessments.
- Utilize accounting software/ERP systems to maintain financial records and generate reports.
- Prepare audit documentation and supporting schedules for internal and external audits.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or Masters Degree preferred but not required.
- At least 5 years of proven experience as an Accountant or Controller. Bonus points for accounting experience in apparel/fashion, manufacturing, inventory management, and audits.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Netsuite, SAP, or similar) and Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong analytical skills with an eye for detail and the ability to identify discrepancies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Time management skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn and adapt to changing accounting standards and systems.
- Ethical and trustworthy, with a commitment to maintaining financial confidentiality.
- Ability to lead a team of junior financial and accounting professionals.
