Area Manager

Position Summary

 

The Tufting Manager directs and coordinates the operations of the Tufting department. The Manager is responsible for the continual improvement in the performance of productivity, efficiency, and profitability of the department’s operations through a culture of effective methodologies and strategies.

 

Essential Functions

·         Determine staffing requirements; interview, hire, and train new employees, or oversee personnel processes.

  • Assure all team members have the resources, software applications, and information to perform their job duties.
  • Communicate with employees under his or her direction of changes to their day-to-day responsibilities and provide regular feedback on their performance ensuring that everyone is aware and working to their job responsibilities and assisting the team.
  • Coordinate, manage, and monitor the workload and work quality of employees.
  • Schedule and conduct departmental safety meetings.
  • Coordinate workflow and production schedules in conjunction with production planning that meet housekeeping and production goals.
  • Assist in establishing product standards
  • Implement and maintain quality control requirements by monitoring all departmental quality, processes, and procedures.
  • Manage resources to ensure on-going operation of the department within the established budget, productivity, housekeeping, and efficiency standards.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other departments to proactively address issues that may impact the quality of the production process or product.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management and production team, informing and updating them regularly to guarantee production, sales, and customer objectives are met.
  • Consult with production planning, vendors, and/or customers to coordinate production or shipping activities and to resolve complaints or eliminate delays.
  • Review documents, such as production schedules or work orders, to determine material requirements or material priorities.
  • Assure all materials are entered as 1st quality production, waste, or off quality into Cams in accordance with order entry standards and procedures.
  • Take all necessary actions to improve production costs and improve profitability.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement.

Physical Demands/Work Environment: Vision, hearing, and speech are required.  Manual dexterity is necessary.  Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. Ability to work in extreme temperature areas.

•         Lifting 25 – 50 lbs

 

Requirements

General Qualifications

 

Education/Knowledge:

·         Bachelor’s Degree preferred, HS Diploma/GED required

·         Minimum of 10 years in a manufacturing environment

·         Minimum of 5 years Leadership experience

·         Ability to create, read, and interpret customer specifications

·         Knowledge of Microsoft office, primarily Excel

·         SAP

·         Superior written and verbal communication skills

·         Tufting Maintenance Skills

o    The hook shaft, needle shaft, and needle bar of the Tufting Machine can be disassembled and assembled, and the cutting conditions of Knives and Hooks should be optimized.

o    There should be the ability to look at the appearance of the carpet being produced and find and fix problems with the facility when there is a problem. (etc.)
