Certified Recreational Therapist (Expressive Arts writing, music, dance, etc.), Looking for Full-Time employees!!

• Responsible for evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of patients in terms of leisure and recreational pursuits.
• Planned program of activities for those patients who need the intervention of a structured recreational therapy program.
• Develops, conducts and evaluates a diversified program of activities to individual patients.
• Organizes records, maintains, and orders equipment and supplies.
• Provides care to patients in a manner that considers safety, respect, comfort, and the therapeutic environment.

Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team, provide therapeutic interventions and recreational services to adults, adolescents, or children at the hospital. Minimum of 2 years experience in a healthcare, psychiatric care, and/or educational field. Inpatient psychiatric experience preferred. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as psychology, therapeutic recreation, music therapy, art therapy, or occupational therapy with a recreation therapist certificate. Certification is not required with a Master's degree in a relevant field. Excellent communication, assessment, evaluation, and interpretation skills. Knowledge of psychiatric and substance use disorders and treatment; flexibility; teaching or training skills; understanding of and ability to apply DSM-V methodology.

Associate license wage range: $27.39/hr. - $38.21/hr.

Licensed wage range: $31.22/hr. - $43.57/hr.

Houston Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is currently recruiting for Per Diem Activity Therapists.

The recreational therapist serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, to provide therapeutic recreational and activity services to adult and adolescent patients under HBHH care for emotional or substance abuse problems.

Please note, HBHH has put in place COVID-19 safety procedures in its facility and continues to use safety precautions recommended by the CDC.

Requirements

Education:

Bachelors degree in a relevant field (e.g., recreational therapy, music therapy, art therapy, occupational therapy).

CTRS or TRS/TXC license preferred.
