Pipe Layer

The Pipelayer position is responsible for performing various duties on construction projects. Essential Functions:

• Installs and repair sanitary, storm, sewer structures, and pipe systems
• Installs underground WET utilities such as water or sewage, beneath the ground.
• Reads, identify, and understand blueprints related to all above and below ground utilities
• Reports any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager
• Aligns and position pipes
• Checks slopes for conformance to requirements, using instruments such as lasers and grade rod
• Connects pipe pieces and seal joints
• Covers pipe with earth or other materials
• Levels trench bases, using machinery or hand tools
• Ensures a clean and safe working environment and addressing any potential safety concerns
• Other duties assigned

We are currently seeking a skilled Pipe Layer to join our growing construction company. A strong work ethic, attention to detail, willingness to travel, and dependability are a must.

Job Details

• $25 per hour and up depending on experience
• 50 or more hours per week (no weekend work)
• Some projects require being out of town Monday-Friday (home on weekends)
• Transportation provided from Kearney, NE when working out of town
• Paid travel time
• Hotel paid by company
• Nightly per diem for meals when working out of town
• Year-round employment (no winter layoffs)

Requirements

• 3+ years previous experience as a pipe layer completing the tasks below.
• Previous experience and ability to lay push joint pipe including water main, sanitary sewer and storm sewer.

• Install, set up, and calibrate lasers and other survey equipment.

• Shovel, rake, transfer, grade materials such as dirt and stone.

• Drive, mark, remove or replace grade stakes.

• Measure and mark grades using rulers, levels, strings, or lasers.

• Secure utility devices using straps, ropes or chains.

• Utilize saws, torches and cutting devices.

• Apply cement, glue and other adhesives.

• Operate tampers, rollers or other compaction devices.

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Knowledge of tools, materials, methods and techniques for pipe laying.

• Ability to interpret plans and stakes.

• Communication skills, ability to comprehend instruction.
