Digital Archivist

LAC Federal is seeking a remote Digital Archivist to assist with enhancing metadata for digital collections to improve the discoverability of archival materials pertaining to women's history. The Archivist will work collaboratively with museum, library, and archives staff to evaluate existing digital collections and make recommendations for enhanced or additional metadata to describe women using recognized metadata standards for libraries, archives, and museums including MARC, Encoded Archival Context for Corporate Bodies, Persons, and Families, Encoded Archival Description, etc. The Archivist will meet with custodial units to identify collections that require enhancement and will help devise a streamlined workflow for creating, updating, and validating metadata.

LAC Federal is seeking an Archivist to provide archival processing and reference services for a federal archival program in Washington, D.C. The Archivist will serve a Program Manager overseeing a team consisting of an Archivist and Scanning Technicians and report the agency Historian to plan and coordinate work. The Archivist will use professional judgment in arranging, describing, and preserving historical materials in accordance with recognized archival best practices. The archivist will supervise and direct large scale digitization and processing of physical materials, primarily paper and image-based into a digital archive.
