Assistant Cook

We are seeking a qualified Assistant Cook/Floater Teacher to add to our growing team at a beautiful state-of-the-art childcare and preschool center in Strongsville, Ohio.

In this role, you will support the center in various roles. Your resonsibilities will include supporting our Kitchen staff with overall planning and food preparation in the center. Additionally, during times when kitchen assistance is not needed, you will step in as a Floater Teacher, providing support in various classrooms.

The Head Start Assistant Cook assists the Cook in shopping for, preparing, and delivering healthy meals and snacks to classrooms each day while practicing safe food handling per USDA and Head Start standards.

Typical Duties

1. Assist the cook in purchasing necessary supplies and food and completing related paperwork as determined in consultation with the Health and Nutrition Coordinator, the Nutrition Specialist, and the Site Supervisor.
2. Assist the cook in receiving orders from vendors, ensuring that proper items have been delivered.
3. Assist the cook in preparing meals in accordance with MRDC procedures based on Head Start Performance Standards and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
4. Keep foods at the correct temperatures so that all prescribed safety procedures are maintained.
5. Assist the cook in ensuring that all children with food allergies or other dietary needs receive the proper food daily.

Cedars of Marin Cedars Residential Program provides person-centered day programs and residential opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities that inspire them to live creative, productive, healthy and joyous lives. Cedars has been supporting adults with developmental disabilities for more than 100 years.

As a part of the Cedars Food Service team you will work with the Manager of Food Services to provide three nutritious, delicious meals for 50 adults with developmental disabilities daily. Cooking experience is necessary. This work is creative, fulfilling and challenging.
