Entry Writer

Prepares entry papers from shipper's invoice in accordance with U.S. Customs Service regulations, and regulations of other federal agencies bearing on importation of goods such as Environmental Protection Agency and Food and Drug Administration.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

• Receives freight, documentation, and way billing; assesses charges; and collects fees for shipments.
• Opens a file on the dedicated software system for each shipment received.
• Responds to inquiries by fax, e-mail or telephone.
• Negotiates with domestic customers, as intermediary for foreign customers, to resolve problems and arrive at mutual agreements.
• Examines invoices and shipping manifests for conformity to tariff and customs regulations.

Reporting to the Branch & Operations Manager, the Customs Entry Writer will be responsible for preparing and processing import and export documentation according to customs regulations, laws, and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare customs entries, ISF entries, and bonds for air, ocean, and cross-border shipments. 
• Ensure regulatory compliance and proper documentation for shipments. 
• Maintain client-specific HTS databases. 
• Process, distribute, and release documentation accurately and timely. 
• Oversee billing to clients, ensuring accurate costs and profits. 
• Understand Incoterms and commercial invoice requirements. 
• Develop relationships with local vendors and carriers. 
• Maintain prompt and efficient customer relations.
