Custodian in New Jersey

The Custodian-Security Guard will serve as a substitute for either department. The right candidate should be flexible and be willing to assume a security role or custodian role.

As a security guard the employee will secure hallways and doors of the school and ensure compliance with the school's security protocols. As a custodian the employee will collect trash, clean bathrooms, clean cafeterias, wipe tables, clean up spills/vomit, etc.

This is a full time 10 month position.

Requirements

Required:

• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Desirable:

• Current SORA license
• Experience working as a security guard
• Experience working as a custodian
• Flexibility

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Hours 10:00am - 6:30pm
• Sweep, Mop, and Santize up to 10 classrooms / areas each night.
• Perform major cleaning tasks such as vacuuming (using a 20 lb. vacuum daily for 3-4 hours), wet-mopping, sweeping, dusting, emptying the trash (lifting waste paper and debris - minimum of 55 lbs.), dusting, cleaning whiteboards, and disinfecting drinking fountains.
• Clean restrooms, including floors and all fixtures (i.e.: urinals, toilets, sinks, mirrors, partitions, and counters). Ensure restrooms are clean and disinfected.

• Perform ongoing tasks such as replacing light bulbs (climb ladders up to a height of 16 feet), filling dispensers, and setting up facilities for student and adult-use (lifting furniture, boxes, and cafeteria tables-minimum of 55 lbs.).

WORKS CLOSELY WITH: Other Custodians; Security Guards; Cleaning Company

MANAGES:  custodians when Head Custodian is not in building

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Serve as lead point of contact in building when Head Custodian is not on site. Provide leadership and management for other custodians when Head Custodian is not on site.
   
2. Perform major cleaning tasks such as vacuuming (using a 20 lb. vacuum daily), wet-mopping, sweeping, dusting, emptying trash (lifting waste paper and debris) and pencil sharpeners, cleaning whiteboards and disinfecting drinking fountains.
   
3. Clean restrooms, including floors and all fixtures (i.e.: urinals, toilets, sinks, mirrors, partitions, and counters).  Ensure restrooms are clean and disinfected.
   
4. Wash windows and sills (door glass).
