Safety Coordinator in Kansas

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the plant safety program at the site-specific level, assuring all required training, reporting, and documentation is completed while enforcing accountability for safety violations. Physically monitor all production processes on a daily basis to correct any safety violations or issues as they happen.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Conduct all OSHA and Company required safety training.
• Properly maintain all training documents and records to include dates and attendance records.
• Perform daily observations of all plant production to immediately correct any safety violations or issues.
• Facilitate quarterly safety committee meetings and maintain meeting minutes.
• Make recommendations to current Company safety program.
• Monitor accident trends and implement corrective actions or program changes to reduce accident frequency.

The right candidate will be responsible for a variety of clerical duties and technical tasks for the safety department to support personnel in the three Salina, KS facilities. This candidate will work closely with the Safety Manager and others supporting the Vortex culture of safety. They will interact with others during “safety walks,” training activities, and drills. They must utilize an
“owners’ mindset” as they interact with others, and lead by example to promote a high standard of safety, so employees know and understand the expected behaviors.

Learning Management System (LMS) administration and effectiveness improvement are critical tasks for this position. LMS management includes managing employee training assignments; data entry; report generation; and responding to questions; and assisting in selecting / developing learning materials such as “safety talk”, presentations and/or training courses for use via the LMS.
