The Freeport Park District, established in 1911, manages Freeport's parks and open spaces, which are a source of great pride for our community. With a management portfolio that includes 12 park sites and over 700 acres of property, we strive to enhance the recreational and natural experiences of our residents. Our flagship site, Krape Park, spans over 130 acres and features a plethora of amenities ranging from an 18-hole miniature golf course, picnic shelters, and a carousel, to fishing piers and outdoor amphitheaters. Additionally, we offer diverse recreational programs encompassing fitness, sports, cultural arts, aquatics, and activities tailored for individuals with disabilities. The Freeport Park District employs 20 full-time staff along with over 150 part-time and seasonal employees, maintaining a budget of approximately $6.8 million.
