A sonographer, also known as a diagnostic medical sonographer, uses sound waves and imaging equipment to create images of the body called ultrasounds. These images help doctors diagnose and treat medical conditions.
Requirements
Basic level Sonographer classification requirements:
- (RDCS) Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, or (RCS) Registered Cardiac Sonographer, or (RCCS) Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer
- BLS- Basic Life Support required
- Completion/graduation of an approved cardiac sonographer training program
- Flexibility in scheduling, ability to rotate shifts and coverage for weekends and holiday work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
- Previous experience performing adult cardiac echocardiograms
- Requires registry through ARDMS (RDCS) or CCI (RCCS, RCS) within 4 months of onboarding
